Redness & Sensitive Skin with Dr. Susan Poleman

For redness and sensitive skin, I keep my routine simple and introduce only one new product at a time, waiting at least a week between additions to monitor for reactions. I avoid harsh toners and exfoliants, focusing instead on strengthening the skin barrier through hydration and protection.

In the morning, my focus is protection. I cleanse with Vivier Hexamidine Gentle Cleanser, followed by Vivier Serum 10 to help defend against free radicals caused by UV exposure, pollution, and stress. If needed, I add ZO Daily Power Defense for hydration and always finish with sunscreen, SPF 30 in winter and SPF 50 to 60 in summer.

At night, the focus shifts to repair and rejuvenation. I use Vivier Redness Solution Complex and may incorporate ZO Retinol Skin Brightener, starting once or twice weekly and increasing gradually as tolerated. Your dermatologist can also provide tips to maximize retinol benefits while minimizing irritation.
